The last week of spring

Summer is almost here, but the rain has kept everything lush and green.

I kid about living with Mr. Science. But we make a pretty good team. Saturday we were sitting together, enjoying our neighbor’s pond. Dennis threw in some cicada to see if the fish would eat them, one did. I happened to notice a big spider in the grass near the pond which he had overlooked. He ID’d it and took a photo.  I decided to take one for the Blog and observed some small “bugs” crawling all over the spider. Turns out the bugs were baby spiders…a collaborative observation.

If you look carefully you can see one or two eyes.

One day last week we had 3.5 inches of rain. We had a patch of sun the next morning, so I ventured out to meander in our soaked landscape. There was much beauty to be found near the house and in the meadow.

  1. Wonderful pictures. Hard to believe spider webs survived all the rain, or they were so quickly rebuilt. Fun facts!

  2. Oh the amazingly gorgeous green ferns!
